Job summary

Novolex is seeking a Lead Machine Adjuster in Florence, KY to support shift supervision in a high-volume paper bag manufacturing environment. You will partner with the Shift Supervisor to manage safety, quality, production and real-time floor execution on a 24/7 operation.

Responsibilities include leading machine operators, line assignments, changeovers, and daily reporting, while ensuring adherence to GMP, safety standards, and quality controls.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 2-5 years Adjuster experience.
• Effective listening, speaking & writing ability in person and on the phone.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and quality instructions, and procedural manuals.
• Ability to complete routine reports and records.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
• Strong written communication and organizational skills.
• Careful attention to safety procedures and GMP requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first line technical support for Machine Operators and Utility personnel.
• Assign employees to production lines and ensure machines run on schedule.
• Monitor bags, take hourly samples to inspect quality and reduce waste.
• Assist in machine changeovers and ensure timely completion.
• Clean and repair machines as needed.
• Enforce safety procedures and PPE adherence on the floor.
• Submit accurate daily production reports and manage breaks.
• Evaluate performance and participate in disciplinary actions as needed.
• Train new employees and maintain supply of materials.
• Maintain clean work areas and escalate issues to supervision.
• Refer concerns to Human Resources when needed.
• Follow GMP and Food Safety Practices.

Job Description

Lead Machine Adjuster

Florence, KY

Compensation Includes

• Starting pay rate $25-28/hour

Available Shifts

• 7am - 7pm
• 7pm - 7am

Overview

Assist the Shift Supervisor with managing assigned shift, focusing on key areas of safety, quality, production, and communication. Provide real-time floor oversight, ensure compliance with standards, gather data on performance and issues, and elevate to supervisors for strategic decisions in a high-volume paper bag manufacturing environment. Split floor coverage with the other Lead to monitor machines, drive team development, and minimize losses due to articulable constraints.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first line technical support for Machine Operators, and Utility persons
• Assign employees to production lines and make sure all machines are running on schedule and at production speed
• Monitor bags being run, making sure hourly samples are taken in order to inspect quality and catch any defects and unnecessary waste
• Assist in machine changeovers/order changes and ensure they are completed in a timely manner
• Clean and repair machines as needed
• Make sure work in area is done in a safe manner and employees are following all safety procedures, i.e. PPE, guards, ZES, shirt tails, etc.
• Submit accurate production reports daily and timely
• Make sure employees take breaks, and schedule relief as needed
• Evaluate employees’ performances, and administer counseling and/or disciplinary action, improvement plans and making sure that recurring problems are brought to the attention of Shift Supervisor or Department Manager
• Train new employees or assign them to others to train
• Keep workers supplied with necessary materials
• Make sure employees keep their work areas clean
• Refer employees to Human Resources for complaints and/or first step grievances or other issues as they arise
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety Practices
• Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management, including food safety

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• 2-5 years Adjuster experience
• Effective listening, speaking & writing ability in person and on the phone
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and quality instructions, and procedural manuals
• Ability to complete routine reports and records
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
• Ability to write clearly and concisely, using good grammar and professional style
• Self managing with organization and time management skills
• Must have good eyesight (no colorblindness) in order to spot flaws in color comparison, print set-up, etc. as bags or film come off the production line
