Job summary

Novolex in Brownsville, Texas is seeking an Adjuster Mechanic on the 3rd shift to adjust merchandise, grocery or sack paper bag machines. You will ensure safety, quality and production targets in your area, reporting to the Shift Supervisor.

The role requires basic mechanical skills, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and the ability to work with limited supervision. Training and safety programs are provided as part of our benefits and development initiatives.

Qualifications

• Prefer to have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Capable of communicating with all levels of internal and external customers.
• Must be able to think on your feet, work with limited supervision and make sound decisions.
• Must be a team player with a “can do” attitude.
• Should possess basic mechanical skills.
• Must be capable of standing for long periods of time.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Must have basic troubleshooting abilities.
• Regularly required to stand, sit, move about facility, climb stairs, bend, twist, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands and fingers to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools and controls, grasp, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, lift above shoulder level. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, color, depth perception

OverviewReporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Adjuster is responsible for adjusting Merchandise, Grocery or Sack paper bag machines. They are also responsible for the safety, product quality and meeting/exceeding production targets in their assigned area.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Continuously perform all required tasks in a safe manner, adhering to all established safety rules and procedures
• Ensure all guards are in place and functioning properly
• Enforce all safety rules including but not limited to safe work procedures such as lockout/tag out
• Enforce PPE requirements
• Identify safety training needs provide feedback to Safety Manager, Supervisor, or training coordinator
• Check bags for quality defects off the machine, do all quality checks and paper-work as per Quality Policy
• Ensure requires quality checks are being performed by the BMO
• Perform quality checks ate each roll change
• Identify quality training needs and provide feedback to quality manager, supervisor, or training coordinator
• Follow all quality policies and procedures. Must comply with all good manufacturing practices
• Must comply with all safety practices and guidelines including PPE requirements
• Make machine set ups and order changeovers
• Adjust and repair machines as needed in order to increase production, reduce downtime, eliminate quality issues and improve machine durability
• Monitor employee breaks and schedule relief as needed
• Identify training needs and schedule training session with shift Supervisor/training coordinator
• Monitor machine run speeds and adjust to run at budgeted speeds or better
• Communicate any issues or pending work at shift change with the incoming adjusters
• Report machine issues and plan repair work accordingly
• Maintain daily housekeeping standards
• Enforce all safety procedures and GMP polices
• Submit accurate production reports daily and timely
• Meet/achieve safety, quality, production waste and housekeeping goals set forth by management

Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally is exposed to fumes or other airborne particles and vibration
• Noise levels in the work environment usually in the range of 85 decibels therefore ear protection is required
• Foot protection is required steel toe or composite shoes, or boots will be acceptable
• Employee will be subject to mandatory testing for drugs and/or alcohol on a random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up basis
