Adjunct Teaching Faculty | Civil & Environmental Engineering

Worcester Polytechnic Institute invites applications for the part‑time position of Adjunct Teaching Faculty. An ideal applicant will hold an advanced degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, have significant practical experience, and successful undergraduate or graduate teaching experience. Ability to teach in other areas is also valued.

Responsibilities

• Teach day and/or evening classes for the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
• Teach from the established curriculum, while adding personal expertise and experience.
• Provide timely feedback to students and grade assignments.
• Review the WPI course catalog and identify engineering courses they may be qualified to teach.

Qualifications

• Hold a master’s degree in a related discipline (required) and a PhD preferred.
• Prior experience teaching college‑level courses required.
• Experience with online teaching and the Canvas learning management system preferred but not required.
• Availability to teach part‑time, with start dates varying by course and semester.

Compensation

$7,500–$10,000 per course.
