Job summary

Gonzaga University in Spokane is seeking certified teachers to supervise Pre-Service Teacher Candidates in the K-12 setting for the academic year. Supervisors mentor and liaise among candidates, mentor teachers, and the department to ensure effective field experiences.

As a Teacher Certification Supervisor, you will observe lessons, debrief with candidates and mentors, and attend on-campus meetings each semester while coordinating with the Clinical Experiences Director.

Qualifications

• Teaching certificate
• At least 5 years K-12 experience
• Master's degree
• Reliable transportation
• Flexible schedule Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Attend in-person, on-campus supervisor meetings
• Attend Zoom meetings, if needed
• Attend Student Teaching Celebration, if supervising a student teacher
• Complete University required trainings
• Complete up to 9 in-person visits
• Use technology for assignments
• Meet all due dates
• Submit mileage monthly on expense reporting software (e.g. Concur)
• Check Gonzaga email regularly and respond within 24 hours
• Professional communication with candidates, mentor teachers, and Clinical office regularly and as needed
• Follow agreed upon protocols for field experiences and student teaching
• If needed, meet with Teacher Education faculty or Professors of Record Confer with Director of Clinical Experiences for issues or concerns with placements, mentor teachers, and candidates' instructional skills and/or dispositions
• Liaison between candidate, mentor teacher and Teacher Education Clinical Office
