Job summary

Prairie State College seeks student-centered adjunct faculty to teach developmental reading & writing ( ENG 099) in person at our Chicago Heights campus during the Fall 2026 semester.

Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a flexible, student-centered approach to teaching writing, the ability to engage a diverse student population, and familiarity with research/scholarship concerning pedagogy and the community college environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English or closely related discipline, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in English.
• Prefer experience teaching at the community college level; graduate coursework in teaching writing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teach developmental reading and writing (ENG 099) in person at the Chicago Heights campus.
• Demonstrate strong communication with diverse student populations and engage in scholarly pedagogy.
