Job description

Midlands Technical College’s School of Education and Public Service seeks engaged, student-centered adjunct instructors for its Criminal Justice Program to help provide an open, accessible, and high-quality college experience for MTC students. The program supports new faculty through mentorship by full-time faculty, instructional materials developed by course coordinators, and professional development informed by classroom experiences and student learning.

Adjunct faculty deliver high-quality instruction in assigned Criminal Justice and Homeland Security courses consistent with their qualifications. Teaching assignments are based on departmental needs, student enrollment, and instructor availability. Instruction may be delivered on campus or at approved off-site locations, including local high schools, through in‑person, hybrid, synchronous virtual, or asynchronous online formats. Faculty use college‑approved instructional platforms, including Microsoft Teams and D2L Brightspace, as appropriate to the assigned course modality.

Master’s degree in criminal justice or a closely related discipline, such as Homeland Security, with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in Criminal Justice.

Demonstrated experience or interest in teaching students with varied backgrounds and learning needs in a two‑year college setting is highly desirable.

Availability to teach daytime and/or evening courses at an MTC campus or approved dual enrollment site. Experience with synchronous virtual instruction using Microsoft Teams, D2L Brightspace, and teaching dual enrollment students.

Adjunct faculty are compensated in accordance with Midlands Technical College’s established pay schedule. The standard adjunct pay rate for this position is $2,914.65 per three-credit-hour course. Compensation may vary based on the total course credit hours assigned. Final compensation is established upon hire and documented in the faculty employment agreement.
