Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Current practical nurse license by the Georgia State Board of Nursing in good standing.
  • Minimum of three years of full-time paid work experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing or related settings.
  • BLS for Healthcare providers (CPR & AED) certification.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to student success initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a weekly planner for learning activities aligned with Student Learning Outcomes.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication in course content.
  • Review and finalize the course syllabus using provided templates.
  • Review and finalize the Blackboard course for student learning support.
  • Evaluate students’ progress toward learning outcomes.
  • Submit required documentation on time (grades, attendance, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, TCSG, and accreditation standards.
  • Establish a classroom environment conducive to student learning and success.
  • Advise students on academic and occupational curricula.
  • Assess student learning and program outcomes.
  • Participate in program recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities.
  • Assist in budgeting for instructional equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in committees and department projects.
  • Pursue professional development to enhance instruction.

Job Description

The Adjunct Faculty (APO) is responsible for developing curriculum and presenting instruction in subject areas. Payment method for employees assigned to this job is APO, lump-sum, fee-for-service.

Position Description

The adjunct faculty member will provide course instruction for the Practical Nursing, (PN) Program. General responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Prepare a weekly planner for learning activities that align with the established Student Learning Outcomes for each course.
  • Demonstrate the effective use of oral and written communication skills and knowledge of current procedures in course content.
  • Review and finalize the course syllabus utilizing the Department and program provided templates.
  • Review and finalize the Learning Management System (Blackboard) course that is used to facilitate and support the student learning experience.
  • Evaluate students’ progress in attaining Student Learning Outcomes.
  • Request and maintain supplies and equipment, as needed to support the learning environment.
  • Submit required documentation, such as final grades, attendance records, or other student related information on a timely basis.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, TCSG, and accreditation standards.
  • Establish a classroom environment conducive to student learning and success.
  • Advise students on academic and occupational curricula.
  • Assess student learning outcomes and program outcomes.
  • Participate in the program’s recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities.
  • Assist in the budget process of requesting and maintaining instructional equipment and supplies for classrooms/laboratories.
  • Committee participation is expected, as well as other department, college, and community projects.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills in various modes of instruction and knowledge of learning.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Possess a current practical nurse license by the Georgia State Board of Nursing and be in good standing from the initial date of employment as a registered professional nurse.
  • Must have a minimum of three years of full‑time paid work experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing, Obstetrical, Pediatric, office‑based physician practice, hospital, nursing home, mental health facility, or public health agency.
  • Possess the following certifications: BLS for Healthcare providers (CPR & AED)
  • Possess and demonstrate effective verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to student success initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Possess a master’s degree in nursing (MSN) from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Prior college-level teaching experience with evidence of effective and student‑centered instructional practices.
  • Experience with the development and delivery of academic courses in both online and traditional modalities.
Additional Information
  • Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees, work experience, and SACSCOC Faculty Credential Guidelines.
  • The successful candidate may be asked to teach in various modalities (face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online).
  • The successful candidate may be required to travel to and teach classes at any Ogeechee Technical College location.
  • In programs that require professional licensure, an active unencumbered license must be provided by the applicant during the interview process.

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.
