Job description

Adjunct Pool - Arts & Sciences

NIACC seeks to expand its pool of qualified adjunct instructors. Applicants in the listed content areas may be contacted according to institutional need in the current or upcoming academic year.

Basic Function

Adjunct instructors are independently responsible for the effective delivery of course instruction and the facilitation of student learning and success.

Qualifications

Master's degree in the content area or any master's degree with 18 graduate credits in the discipline. Previous teaching experience preferred; effective communication and technology skills necessary.

For courses identified as applied arts/sciences, qualifications include a bachelor's degree and 6,000 hours of training and/or experience.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare for and deliver instruction in the content area, aligning with course competencies, syllabi, and College policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate, record and report attendance; assess student performance, and provide regular, constructive feedback.
  • Be regularly available to meet with students (in-person or online) as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, and faculty; communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Perform work according to assigned schedule; classes may be held face-to-face (on-campus, off-site, at regional centers) or online, and may include day or evening hours.
  • Maintain strong organizational skills, demonstrate reliability, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Fulfill other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
