Job summary

Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ invites applications for an Adjunct Professor of Physics at the Metropolitan Campus. The role supports summer sessions and the academic year, teaching physics lecture and/or lab sections in person during day or evening hours.

Applicants should hold a master’s degree in Physics or related field, with preference for prior teaching experience. Employment requires a background check and Social Security Card; faculty profile submission is requested.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a master’s degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a closely related field is required.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience.
  • Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check; candidates will sign a waiver and provide a Social Security Card.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality instruction for undergraduate STEM students
  • Guide students through weekly physics lectures and/or laboratory experiments
  • Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate feedback in a timely manner
  • Hold regular office hours
  • Track student attendance
  • Submit attendance verification, midterm grades and final grades online
  • Reply to emails from students, lab coordinators, and administrators in a timely manner
  • Commit to contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
  • Follow established teaching protocols within the physics program
  • Deliver instruction using evidence-based active learning pedagogies and assist students with data collection and analysis
