Job summary

Eastern Iowa Community Colleges is seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teach clinical nursing across multiple campus locations. The clinical instructor will supervise students and ensure application of theoretical knowledge in clinical settings, while representing professional nursing in dress and conduct.

We are currently seeking part-time instructors to teach part-time hours weekly. The position requires daytime or evening hours and travel within the EICC District.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a current unrestricted nursing license in Iowa.
• Two years’ experience in clinical nursing required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required, or shall make annual progress toward the attainment of such degree.
• Some travel within the EICC District is required.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background screening.

Responsibilities

• Teach in the clinical area in accordance with outcomes identified in the established course development model.
• Maintain accurate attendance, progress and grade records of all students.
• Meet promptly with scheduled clinical groups.
• Attend and participate in all scheduled faculty, college, district, and advisory meetings as teaching schedule permits.
• Assure that student outcomes are achieved in each course.
• Provide quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of students and internal/external stakeholders.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• This position generally operates in a professional healthcare classroom and office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
• Requires the ability to sit or stand in a classroom during extended instructional periods.
• May require pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.
• May require standing for extended period of time to perform work responsibilities with regular walking.

Salary $1,000 per credit hour

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach in the clinical area in accordance with outcomes identified in the established course development model. Teaching assignments may include varying delivery formats and methods.
• Demonstrate ability to successfully and collegially work with a diverse population of students, faculty, administration, and staff.
• Meet promptly with scheduled clinical groups.
• Maintain accurate attendance, progress and grade records of all students.
• Attend and participate in all scheduled faculty, college, district, and advisory meetings as teaching schedule permits or as directed by the Associate Dean of Nursing.
• Assure that student outcomes are achieved in each course.
• Evaluate and record student performance and achievement on a regular basis and provide timely feedback to students on their progress in meeting clinical objectives.
• Assist college in the recruitment and retention of students.
• Maintain currency of professional skills to continually enhance instructional skills.
• Engage regularly in professional learning activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas.
• Provide quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of students and internal/external stakeholders.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
