Job description

The Adjunct Nursing Program Assistant is responsible to the Director of Nursing Program and works closely with the Nursing Program Assistant and Health Sciences Counselor. The adjunct assistant will assist in the management of the departmental office and assist the director in college and program processes, ensuring duties and processes are performed effectively and timely. Must demonstrate organization and ensure a commitment to confidentiality in all program and student matters.

The Adjunct Nursing Assistant is expected to accomplish assigned duties efficiently, effectively, and competently and strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, staff are asked to demonstrate a commitment to the comprehensive role of the community college as stated in the College Mission and to cooperate and work harmoniously with college personnel and the public. All Cisco College employees are expected to follow College policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines.

Primary Duties
  1. Assist with maintaining calendar to remind director and faculty of key dates – Advisory Board meetings, monthly faculty meetings, PTO requests, graduations, convocations, etc.
  2. Assist with commencement planning: Ensure all planning items are completed in advance, such as site reservation, photographer, certificates/diplomas, regalia orders, pins, flowers, programs, awards, Gideons, Gifts, Marketing, etc.
  3. Assist with maintaining files of commencement docs (agenda, script, rosters, guests, etc.)
  4. Assist with graduation survey: Send out graduate follow-up survey (goal: 3-4 months after each graduation).
  5. Assist with creating and managing surveys for graduates, projects, or as needed.
  6. Assist with ensuring all student and faculty documents are uploaded and maintained. Track all student and faculty records, including immunizations, CPR, credentials, etc.
  7. Assist with Healthcare Academy – Assist healthcare academy coordinate and program directors with planning and purchasing items for academy activities. The salary supplement for this duty is contingent upon continued agreement with Hendrick Health Systems.
  8. Assist with Marketing & Publications – keep current copies of all program handbooks and marketing materials. Assist director with the regular/annual review and update of these materials for consistency, compliance, and accuracy. Coordinate with the Marketing Director for orders, videos, and materials as needed. Act as a reader and editor for all nursing program guides and web pages.
  9. Assist incoming high school students with the transition from high school to the nursing program.
  10. Assist with Facility Contracts – Ensure clinical affiliation agreements are up to date, update as needed, and create new contracts when needed.
  11. Assist with Student Applications/Interviews – Track student application information, Schedule student interviews, send acceptance/denial letters, update applications as needed, etc. Attend interviews.
  12. Assist with Scholarship – Keep track of scholarships each semester, ensuring applicants meet required criteria.
  13. Participate in program meetings and committees. Participate in college-wide meetings and committees.
  14. Be familiar with the approved requirements of the Texas Board of Nursing, the Nurse Practice Acts, and the accrediting processes of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
  15. May participate in the selection process when selecting a new cohort.
  16. May assist with the setup and take down of simulation laboratory equipment.
  17. May proctor exams as needed.
  18. For LVNs, may assist in VN clinical/lab under the direct supervision of an RN instructor.
  19. For LVNs, may assist in the lab for skills check-off under the direct supervision of an RN instructor.
  20. Assist with the Healthcare Academy as needed.
  21. Be conversant with the Cisco College faculty constitution and by-laws to ensure active participation and facilitation of the school’s goals and objectives.
  22. Complete all elements of the Faculty Evaluation Plan and work with the Director to establish professional goals.
  23. Perform all other duties as assigned.
General
  1. Reports directly to the Director of Nursing.
  2. Meet regularly with the Department Director and faculty for input and feedback.
  3. Maintains communication with faculty and staff regarding student progress.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Previous computer experience with the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  2. Experience with design or creation/creative software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, InDesign, and Microsoft Publisher.
  3. Effective verbal and written communication skills
  4. Documented professionalism and organizational skills.
  5. Demonstrated/proven ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  6. For LVNs, Maintain current CPR and required immunizations.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
  1. Licensed Vocational Nurse with current Texas Licensure.
  2. Prior experience working in the Health Sciences industry, business, and/or college campus.
  3. Ability to relate well to students.
  4. Effective interpersonal skills.
