Job summary

South University is seeking a Nursing Clinical Adjunct to ensure the effectiveness of clinical experiences and to prepare and teach clinical and/or laboratory nursing courses. You will collaborate with the Lead Clinical Faculty, Clinical Coordinator, and Program Director to deliver high-quality nursing education on campus and online.

The role emphasizes supervising students, developing syllabi, and providing engaging materials while maintaining ethical standards and a student-centered approach.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing; master’s degree preferred.
  • Two years’ clinical experience in nursing.
  • Experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Pediatrics, Emergency Department, or ICU/Critical Care.
  • Membership in a professional association related to area of instruction preferred.
  • Current knowledge in area of clinical practice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills.
  • Computer-based skills (software, analytics, report writing).
  • Demonstrated clinical competency and professional standards of practice.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

The Nursing Clinical Adjunct is responsible for the generaleffectiveness of the clinical experiences. He/she has primaryresponsibility for preparing and teaching clinical and/orlaboratory nursing courses. The Nursing Clinical Adjunct works withthe Lead Clinical Faculty, Clinical Coordinator, and the ProgramDirector.

KEY JOB ELEMENTS
  1. Supervises students in clinical practice, internships,observations, field experiences, nursing labs, and other similarcourse and graduation requirements
  2. Counsels or refers students with identified clinicalperformance problems.
  3. Maintains the highest moral and ethical standards as aneducator, as a nursing professional, and as a responsible member ofthe community.
  4. Debriefs and evaluates students in clinical practice,observations, and field experiences.
  5. Teaches the number of hours and courses stated in theemployment contract for the stated time periods.
  6. Meets all clinicals and other scheduled responsibilities suchas office hours and meetings at the designated time.
  7. Articulates course learning outcomes or objectives to ensurestudent understanding of course learning objectives andexpectations.
  8. Assists the Lead Clinical Faculty with the creation of thecourse/clinical syllabus
  9. Creates course materials required to deliver course informationin an understandable and interesting manner to ensure students areengaged with the course material to facilitate achievement of thecourse learning outcomes.
  10. Adheres to identified office hours and be available to assiststudents to understand course content and/or clinical scenarios tofacilitate the comprehension of materials through one-to-onemeeting or in assists students to master course material by beingavailable through “office hours” and or small group sessions
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree: with a master’s degree in nursingpreferred
  • Two years’ experience in the clinical specialty area.
  • Experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Pediatrics, EmergencyDepartment, or ICU/Critical Care
