Job summary

The Nursing Clinical Adjunct at South University is responsible for the effectiveness of clinical experiences and for preparing and teaching clinical and laboratory nursing courses. The adjunct works with the Lead Clinical Faculty, Clinical Coordinator, and the Program Director.

This is an in-person position. Not remote.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, a master's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Experience in Pediatrics or Medical/Surgical required.
  • Two years of experience in the clinical specialty area.
  • Current knowledge in the area of clinical practice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships with student populations.
  • Outstanding conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills.
  • Computer based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and reportwriting skills).
  • Demonstrated clinical competency and professional standards of practice.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet frequently occurring deadlines.
  • Ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse student/campus constituents.
  • Ability to develop and complete projects without continued direct supervision.
  • Ability to learn from students’ participation, demonstrates fair and consistent behavior, and shows compassion.
  • Ability to perform with legal and ethical boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Debriefs and evaluates students in clinical practice, observations, and field experiences.
  • Teaches the number of hours and courses stated in the employment contract.
  • Meets all clinical and other scheduled responsibilities such as office hours and meetings.
  • Articulates course learning outcomes to ensure student understanding.
  • Creates course materials required to deliver course information effectively.
  • Adheres to office hours and is available for one-to-one or small group sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Nursing Clinical Adjunct is responsible for the generaleffectiveness of clinical experiences. Adjunct Faculty has aprimary responsibility for preparing and teaching clinical and/orlaboratory nursing courses. The Nursing Clinical Adjunct works with the Lead Clinical Faculty, Clinical Coordinator, and the ProgramDirector.

This is an in-person position. Not remote.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Supervises students in clinical practice, internships,observations, field experiences, nursing labs, and other similarcourse and graduation requirements
  • Counsels or refers students with identified clinicalperformance problems.
  • Maintains the highest moral and ethical standards as aneducator, as a nursing professional, and as a responsible member ofthe community.
  • Debriefs and evaluates students in clinical practice,observations, and field experiences.
  • Teaches the number of hours and courses stated in theemployment contract for the stated time periods.
  • Meets all clinical and other scheduled responsibilities such asoffice hours and meetings at the designated time.
  • Articulates course learning outcomes or objectives to ensurestudent understanding of course learning objectives andexpectations.
  • Creates course materials required to deliver course informationin an understandable and interesting manner to ensure students areengaged with the course material to facilitate achievement of thecourse learning outcomes.
  • Adheres to identified office hours and be available to assiststudents to understand course content and/or clinical scenarios tofacilitate the comprehension of materials through one-to-onemeeting or in assists students to master course material by beingavailable through "office hours" and or small group sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QULIFICATIONS:
Education:

  • Unencumbered RN nursing License
