Stark State College is seeking a part-time Non-Credit Blueprint instructor to join our Mechanical Engineering Technology Department. The successful candidate will contribute to the college's commitment to academic excellence, student success, and community engagement.

The role focuses on developing and delivering hands-on blueprint reading workshops, teaching across Architectural, Structural, Site, Civil, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical plans, and bridging theory with practical applications

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in architecture, engineering, or construction.
  • Knowledge of building codes and construction terminology.
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading conventions and symbols.
  • Strong instructional and presentation abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver hands-on blueprint reading workshops.
  • Deliver instruction across architectural, structural, site, civil, mechanical, plumbing and electrical plans.
  • Demonstrate use of drawings and documents in real-world construction settings.
  • Bridge theory and practice to build confidence in reading technical drawings.
  • Guide learners through real-world scenarios and problem-solving exercises.
  • Adapt teaching methods to various experience levels and learning styles.
  • Evaluate student learning through practical exercises and assessments.
  • Provide academic support and constructive feedback to students.
  • Foster an inclusive, interactive learning environment with active participation.

Typical Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop and deliver hands‑on blueprint reading workshops focused on the interpretation and application of construction drawings.
  • Deliver instruction across Architectural, Structural, Site, Civil, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical plans.
  • Demonstrate how construction drawings, details, schedules, specifications, symbols, and other technical documentation are used in real‑world construction settings.
  • Aim to bridge theory and practice, fostering confidence and accuracy in reading and utilizing technical drawings for construction personnel.
  • Guide learners through real‑world scenarios and problem‑solving exercises.
  • Have the capacity to adapt teaching methods to various experience levels and learning styles.
  • Evaluate student learning through practical exercises, assessments, and other instructional activities.
  • Provide academic support, individualized guidance, and constructive feedback to help students strengthen their skills.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and interactive learning environment that encourages questions, discussion, and hands‑on participation.
  • Check college email regularly and complete required training,
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Professional experience in architecture, engineering, or a construction‑related field.
  • Current knowledge of building codes, materials, and construction terminology.
  • Current knowledge of industry standards, symbols, scales, and conventions used in blueprint reading.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings.
  • Strong instructional and presentation skills.
