Job summary

Saint Leo University is seeking qualified adjunct instructors with terminal degrees in Theology to develop and teach courses for the MA Theology program. Courses are delivered in Canvas and include both live sessions and independent activities.

Instructors will revise core courses, teach assigned sections, and submit grades promptly while maintaining professional standards and alignment with university policies.

Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in theology from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience designing and revising theology courses, preferably online using Canvas.
  • Ability to deliver both synchronous and asynchronous course components.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses as contracted.
  • Provide all necessary information and teach materials as provided on the course syllabus.
  • Submit final grades within three days after the end of the term.
  • Deliver course content professionally per the master syllabus and dean/chair guidance.
  • Meet all scheduled class meetings for the assigned period.
  • Be available to students for consultation before and after class.
  • Cooperate in disseminating information to students.
  • Uphold university policies and core values.
  • Report to location administrator and department chair as required.

Job Description Summary

Saint Leo University is currently seeking qualified candidates with terminal degrees in Theology to develop courses in our MA Theology program. Qualified applicants, transcripts, and materials will be reviewed and processed in preparation for assignment-based student enrollment needs for upcoming terms. Select adjuncts from the pool are contracted term-by-term based on course/section need and availability. Saint Leo University reserves the right to not schedule and/or cancel courses based on enrollment. Job Description is processed upon the receipt of all official transcripts while the posting is active.

Job Description

As a normal part of program review, our current courses are in need of innovative and thoughtful revision. The core courses in the program are: Hebrew Scriptures: History and Theology Christian Scriptures: History and Theology Worship, Sacraments, and Liturgy Christian Ethics I: Foundations History of Christianity Ecclesiology Christian Spirituality : History and Praxis Christology. Courses are developed and delivered in Canvas. Courses are typically organized into 8 two-week modules and include both synchronous (live sessions) and asynchronous (readings, assignments, discussions, activities, and recorded lectures) components. The instructor would be responsible for developing all these components.

Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses as contracted.
  • Provide all necessary information and teach materials as provided on the course syllabus.
  • Submit final grades within three (3) days after the end of the term.
  • Deliver in a professional manner course content for any assigned course(s) as specified by the master syllabus and/or as directed by the appropriate academic school dean, director, or chair.
  • Meet all scheduled class meetings for the assigned period.
  • Be available to students before and after class for individual consultation.
  • Cooperate in the dissemination of information to students.
  • Abide by and uphold University policies and core values.
  • Carry out instructor duties and responsibilities as provided on the website, handbook(s), and policies.
  • Report to location administrator as it pertains to daily operations as defined in the term-by-term contractual agreement, but ultimately have responsibility to their discipline specific department chair or director and/or school dean.
Required/Minimum Qualification(s)

A terminal degree in theology from a regionally accredited institution.
