Job summary

Somerset Community College is accepting applications for an Adjunct - Lineman Instructor. This position will teach the SCC Lineman course curriculum.

The ideal candidate will have ten years of field experience as a Lineman, strong instructional skills, and a commitment to student success in a hands-on program.

Qualifications

• Ten years of experience working as a Lineman in the Electrical Utility field.
• Excellent organizational skills; strong attention to detail; self-motivated; excellent interpersonal skills; and the ability to communicate effectively (oral and written).
• Ability to utilize different methods and media for delivering course material.
• Associate degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Teach the SCC Lineman course curriculum with extensive knowledge of Electrical Utility Safety Rules and procedures.
• Maintain the program’s equipment and lab facilities.
• Maintain and improve instructional competence through professional development.
• Participate in internal and external service within the college service area.
• Participate in Continuing Education and Community Service offerings.
• Serve on division, college, and system committees as elected or appointed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Maintain the program’s equipment and lab facilities.
• Maintain and improve, through professional development, competence in discipline knowledge and instructional techniques and capabilities.
• Participate in internal and external service within the college service area.
• Participate in Continuing Education and Community Service offerings.
• Serve on division, college, and system committees as elected or appointed.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ten years of experience working as a Lineman in the Electrical Utility field.
• Excellent organizational skills; strong attention to detail; self-motivated; excellent interpersonal skills; and the ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) with parents, students, and industry, representing SCC’s Lineman Center professionally and courteously.
• Ability to utilize different methods and media for delivering course material.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven educational or administrative experience in critical thinking, problem-solving, and judgment.
• Associate degree preferred but not required.
