Job summary

Benedictine University is seeking an Adjunct Lecturer to join the Department of Biological Sciences at the Mesa, Arizona campus. This part-time, non-benefit eligible position offers compensation per contact hour with two rates depending on degree held. Courses include Biological Sciences and Sport and Exercise Science, with immediate fall needs for the Coaching minor.

Applicants should have a master's degree in sport science or a closely related discipline; Ph.D. in life sciences is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Education: A Master's degree and experience in one or more areas of the sport and exercise sciences required; a Ph.D. degree in a life science is preferred. Applicants must be able to teach on our Mesa, Arizona campus.

Responsibilities

  • Fill adjunct pool and assist in delivering courses in Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 terms at Mesa campus.
  • Teach courses in Biological Sciences andSport and Exercise Science, including Coaching minor topics such as sport psychology, motor learning, principles of coaching, sport management, and field experiences.
  • Meet immediate needs in Mesa for fall and supervise student field experiences.

Education

Master's degree in sport science or related field

Classification: Part-time, Non-benefit eligible

Location: Mesa, AZ

Rate: $1400 per contact hour (with a terminal degree) and $1200 per contact hour (without a terminal degree). This compensation is per contact hour and is subject to change based on class size.

Brief overview of duties:

The Department of Biological Sciences is looking to find engaging and enthusiastic instructors to help to fill out our adjunct pool and assist in delivering course in the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 terms. Our department offers classes in the Biological Sciences, as well as Sport and Exercise Science. Immediate needs in Mesa for fall are for courses in our Coaching minor, which includes courses in sport psychology, motor learning, principles of coaching, sport management, and local management of student field experiences. The right candidates will have at least a master's degree in sport science or a closely related discipline.

Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
  • Use of computer screen, phone and customer service.
  • May require bending, or sitting for long periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The following of campus specific guidelines for pandemic protocols is required.
Training:

As a University employee you are required to complete all University-specific and/or OSHA related training to fulfill your job duties. Specific training will be conducted online or in person. Employees must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.
