SummaryThe Undergraduate Public Health Program invites applications for an Adjunct Faculty member to teach an undergraduate Global Public Health course in an in-person classroom setting. The successful candidate will bring current knowledge and practical experience in global health and will engage students in understanding major public health challenges, health disparities, and strategies for improving health outcomes across diverse populations and settings.Course: PBH 206 – Introduction to Global Health class to undergraduates who are majors or minors in public health or any other student with an interest in the topic. Class will be in-person and/or hybrid.The Global Public Health course introduces undergraduate students to the principles, practices, and challenges of public health from an international and cross-cultural perspective with a focus on low-income, low-resourced countries. Topics may include:Global patterns of health, disease, and mortalitySocial, economic, environmental, and political determinants of healthHealth disparitiesCommunicable and non-communicable diseasesMaternal, child, and reproductive healthGlobal nutrition and food securityEnvironmental and occupational healthPublic health systems and health policyHumanitarian emergencies and disaster responseGlobal health organizations and partnershipsSustainable development and the United Nations Sustainable Development GoalsEthics, cultural competence, and community engagement in global healthCase studies addressing contemporary global health challengeEssential FunctionsTeach an undergraduate Global Public Health course in person according to the approved course curriculum.Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, discussions, activities, and case-based learning experiences.Create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and respectful discussion.Integrate current global health research, data, policies, and real-world examples into course instruction.Develop and/or administer assignments, examinations, presentations, and other assessments.Provide timely, constructive feedback to students.Maintain accurate attendance and grading records.Be available to provide appropriate opportunities for student consultation.Communicate regularly with students regarding course expectations, assignments, and academic progress.Use the university's learning management system and other instructional technologies as required.Participate in department meetings, orientations, training, and other activities expected of adjunct faculty.Meet periodically with program director to ensure effective communication and clarity of expectationsComply with university policies and academic standards.Minimum Qualifications and SkillsMaster's degree or higher in Public Health, Global Health, Epidemiology, Health Policy, International Development, or a closely related field.Professional or academic experience in global public health or a related discipline.Demonstrated ability to teach, present, or facilitate learning at the undergraduate level.Strong written and oral communication skills.Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive, and student-centered teaching.Ability to incorporate current research, data, and real-world applications into teachingOrganizational skills and ability to meet deadlines (grading, course management, reporting)Preferred QualificationsDoctoral degree (DrPH, ScD, PhD, MD, or equivalent) in public health or a related field.College or university teaching experience.Experience working in international or cross-cultural public health settings.Professional experience with global health programs, NGOs, governmental or intergovernmental organizations, or community-based initiatives.Expertise in areas such as epidemiology, infectious disease, maternal and child health, health equity, environmental health, global health policy, or health systems.Experience using active-learning, case-based, experiential, or other evidence-informed teaching approaches.Experience with Learning Management Systems and course deliveryWorking Conditions/Physical DemandsNormal in-person classroom environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc.May spend extended periods of time standing, sitting, or working on a computerCompensation: $4,607.61 per 3 credit course.Application MaterialsInterested individuals should submit all application materials through the Regis College application portal.Curriculum vitae or résuméCover letter describing relevant global public health experience and teaching qualificationsContact information for [three] professional referencesThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to do this job.
