Job summary

Spartanburg Community College is seeking a Welding Technology instructor to teach welding technology courses to a diverse student body, and to develop and revise course materials in alignment with the college’s mission. The role includes maintaining office hours, advising students, and participating in professional development opportunities, while supporting graduate placement and college committees.

Teaching may occur on campus or via distance learning, with varied day, night, or weekend

Qualifications

• Certificate in Welding Technology from an accredited institution and a minimum 5 years of appropriate work experience.
• Must have demonstrated expertise in the areas of welding, print reading, and pipe welding.
• Associate degree in Welding Technology is preferred for enhanced qualifications.

Job Responsibilities

Teach Welding Technology courses to a diverse student body using effective teaching strategies; develop, revise, and maintain course materials; recommend/design new programs; maintain office hours; participate in appropriate professional development opportunities; participate in College and community activities, promote the mission of the College; develop/implement retention strategies; assist in graduate placement; attend graduation ceremony; assist with student advising and registration; serve on College committees; promote institutional goals; assist with departmental administrative responsibilities. Teaching may be on any campus, or by distance learning, and may be days, nights, weekends or a combination.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

Certificate in Welding Technology from an accredited institution and a minimum 5 years of appropriate work experience. Must have demonstrated expertise in the areas of welding, print reading, and pipe welding.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree in Welding Technology from an accredited institution and a minimum of 3 years of appropriate work experience. Must have demonstrated expertise in the areas of welding, print reading, and pipe welding.
