Job summary

Wake Tech in Raleigh, NC seeks an experienced Sonography Instructor to provide didactic and clinical instruction for the Sonography curriculum. The role requires maintaining records, preparing thoroughly for instructional hours, and guiding students toward learning outcomes.

The instructor will ensure a safe learning environment, supervise student performance, and stay current with program policies while counseling students on progress.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required with credentials specific to concentrations offered.
• Two years full-time professional experience as a general sonographer (AB/OB/GYN).
• Must be credentialed in Sonography by ARDMS.

Responsibilities

• Provide didactic and/or clinical instruction as assigned by the program director.
• Maintain accurate course documentation and scholastic records; submit required reports to the Program Director and registrar.
• Prepare thoroughly for each instructional hour and guide class efficiently.
• Instruct and guide the class to achieve course student learning outcomes.
• Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Grade and return student work in a timely manner; counsel students on grades and progress.
• Organize and maintain laboratory facilities, equipment and materials; ensure readiness.
• Supervise and evaluate student clinical/lab performance; maintain program policies and procedures.

Job description

This position is responsible for providing effective instruction for the Sonography curriculum.

• Provides didactic and/or clinical instruction as assigned by the program director
• Maintains accurate course documentation and scholastic records of students enrolled in classes and submits required reports to the Program Director and to the registrar
• Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
• Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
• Selects learning experiences that facilitate the student attainment of course student learning outcomes
• Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
• Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
• Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
• Organizes and maintains laboratory including physical facilities, equipment, and materials in a clean, neat, operating condition, when applicable
• Maintains current certifications/license/credentials to practice in their profession
• Utilizes a variety of instructional evaluation methods considering learning styles and teaching/learning theory
• Supervises and evaluates student clinical/lab performance
• Maintains current knowledge of program policies, procedures and student progress.
• Maintains confidentiality of student records and grades

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate’s’ degree
• Appropriate credential(s) specific to the concentrations offered
• Two years full-time professional experience as a general sonographer (AB,OB/GYN)
• Must be credentialed in Sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)

Preferences:

• Bachelors Degree
• Five years of experience as a Sonography technologist
• Teaching experience in imaging or other related area
