Job description

The Adjunct Pipefitting Instructor is a part-time, non-benefited position responsible for delivering high-quality classroom and hands-on instruction to participants enrolled in Laramie County Community College’s pipefitting training programs. Utilizing NCCER curriculum, the instructor prepares participants with the technical knowledge and practical skills required for successful careers in the pipefitting industry while supporting their progression toward apprenticeship and employment opportunities.

The instructor combines extensive industry experience with a passion for teaching, mentoring, and developing the next generation of pipefitting professionals. Instruction may include topics such as pipefitting fundamentals, trade mathematics, blueprint and isometric drawing interpretation, pipe fabrication and installation, measurement and layout, rigging, valves and fittings, welding-related processes, and industry safety practices. The instructor creates a positive, engaging learning environment that promotes professionalism, safety, critical thinking, teamwork, and the application of industry best practices.

Compensation

$40.00/hour.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

• While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required
• There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
• While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
• There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
• An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more to perform essential position functions
• Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
• The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be instances of somewhat loud environments.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of professional experience in pipefitting, industrial construction, mechanical systems, or a closely related industry.
• Journey-level pipefitter status or an equivalent combination of recognized apprenticeship training and industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: commercial or industrial pipe installation, fabrication, maintenance, repair, system layout, or mechanical construction.
• Experience applying industry safety regulations and practices, including OSHA requirements, personal protective equipment, hazard recognition, rigging safety, and safe material-handling procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• NCCER Instructor Certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• Experience teaching, mentoring, supervising apprentices, or delivering technical training.
• Experience adapting instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and varying levels of experience.
• Experience with or willingness to learn instructional technologies, including Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Familiarity with Registered Apprenticeship programs and NCCER curriculum.
• Experience with project-based, laboratory, or hands-on instructional methods.
