Job summary

Pellissippi State Community College seeks an Adjunct Instructor – Physics to deliver high-quality instruction in the classroom and laboratory settings.

The role focuses on teaching and evaluating student learning while maintaining a positive learning environment. On-site attendance is required; online courses may be possible but this is not a remote position.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college/university with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach classes as assigned and as outlined in course descriptions and syllabi.
• Supervise the study and learning activities of students assigned.
• Submit requests through the department head, program coordinator, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.
• Evaluate the academic progress of students.
• Demonstrate knowledge of services, regulations, and procedures as defined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook.
• Submit course grades and perform other administrative duties as required.
• Schedule two office hours. For extenuating circumstances, submit a written plan to the Dean describing how students can access the instructor; office hours are not paid during the summer session.

A djuncts are hired on an as-needed basis. Future teaching assignments are on a term-by-term basis, which may include fall, spring, and summer.
