  • Candidates with college-level teaching experience in media courses preferred.
  • Experience teaching INTRO to media courses is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one or two sections of COMM 185/Global Media in a Digital Age for Spring 2027.
  • Deliver in-person instruction at the Naperville, IL campus.
  • Manage course content, assessments, and student engagement during the term January 11–May 5, 2027.

Position Summary

Adjunct Media Studies Faculty, Spring 2027 The Department of Communication and Media Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach one or two sections of our introduction to media course for the spring semester of 2027.

COMM 185/Global Media in a Digital Age is a survey of the development, structure, economics and regulation of major media with a special emphasis on digital communication. The sociological and cultural impact of media on society and civic life is a central theme of the course. This introductory course is required for all Communication and Media Studies majors and is also a popular general education course for students across the College.

We are seeking qualified instructors for the following sections for the spring semester:

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:00AM-9:05AM
  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:20AM-10:25AM

All instruction will take place in-person at our Naperville, IL campus. Spring semester runs from January 11 to May 5, 2027.

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Media Studies, Communication, Journalism or a closely related field with relevant coursework. Candidates with successful college-level teaching experience of media courses are preferred.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $3840 - $4000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
