Job summary

Jackson State Community College seeks an adjunct instructor of Music to deliver instruction using integrative technologies. The role supports in-person, evening, and distance-based courses with grading and syllabus duties throughout the term.

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s in Music with 18 graduate credit hours, and collegiate teaching experience is preferred. Availability across JSCC locations is a plus, with normal service expectations and compliance with college policies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Post grades during the term and submit final grades by deadlines.
  • Complete required trainings, reports, attendance, and surveys on time.
  • Respond to emails within 48 hours and manage syllabus updates with department.
  • Attend meetings and comply with college policies; advise department leadership as needed.

Job description

Title: Adjunct Instructor - Music (Pool)

Institution: Jackson State Community College

Job Summary

This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction using integrative technologies.

Job Duties
  • Teach courses via on ground as assigned. Teach evening, off-campus, and distance-based courses as required.
  • Post grades during the term for student feedback and submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the Registrar.
  • Complete required College trainings and complete all required reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions and administer and return surveys by the required deadlines. Advise the Program Chair or Dean at the earliest possibility if you are unable to teach a class. Attend meetings as requested by the Program Chair and/or Dean. Comply with all the College’s and TBR’s policies and guidelines. Other duties as assigned.
  • Regularly check your JSCC email and your departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours except on the weekend.
  • Submit class syllabus or update department syllabus at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class or within seven days of the execution of contract.
Minimum Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Music or a related field with at least eighteen (18) credit hours in graduate level Music from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications

Collegiate level teaching experience.

Candidates with availability to teach in person, during the day, and/or teach at various Jackson State locations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Pay Rate

$600 per credit hour
