Job summary

Park University seeks adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate mathematics courses in a blended on-site format. Instructors will deliver MA102 Introductory Algebra, MA120 Basic Concepts of Statistics, and MA125 Intermediate Algebra, using Park's Canvas LMS for online components. Applicants must hold a Master's Degree in Mathematics or related field, with a Ph.D.

• Support on-site blended learning with in-person classes and online components via Canvas LMS.

Job description

Appointments are made on a term-by-term basis. Adjunct faculty are required to successfully complete an online Canvas LMS orientation course before being scheduled, as well as other training if required by the department. This is an on-site blended/hybrid course, students attend class in person 60% of the time and complete the remaining 40% online through Park's Canvas Learning Management System. Local applicants only please. A background check and government security clearance will be required to get on base.

For all positions, a Masters Degree in the relevant field is required, along with related work and/or academic experience. For most postings, a Ph.D. or other terminal degree is preferred. • MA102 Introductory Algebra Master's Degree in Mathematics related field.
• MA120 Basic Concepts of Statistics Masters in Mathematics or a Masters in Applied Mathematics. Candidates with a Masters in Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or Economics will also be considered.
• MA125 Intermediate Algebra Masters in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics. Candidates with a Master's degree in Statistics, Physics, Mathematical Education, Operations Research, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Finance, Actuarial Science or Economics will also be considered.

Course Description

• MA102 Introductory Algebra This developmental course prepares students to complete Parks Liberal Education mathematics requirement. Topics include integer arithmetic, basic algebraic equations, rational numbers, percentages, and basic graphing.
• MA120 Basic Concepts of Statistics A development of certain basic concepts in probability and statistics that are pertinent to most disciplines. Topics include: probability models, discrete random variables, normal distributions, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing.
• MA125 Intermediate Algebra This course provides a transition into college level Mathematics courses. Topics include the real number system, basic operations of algebra, linear, quadratic and rational equations, inequalities, radicals and exponents, and systems of equations.
