Job summary

Palm Beach State College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor in Mathematics to teach college-level mathematics courses using established theories and practices. Responsibilities
  • Instruct college students in accordance with educational theories and techniques.
  • Develops discipline related curricula, assess student learning, participates in program evaluation, and college activities.
  • Maintains college and department standards in support of the College's mission and strategic plan.
  • Work schedule varies according to teaching assignment.
What an Adjunct Instructor’s Day looks like
  • Develops, maintains, interprets, and executes administrative procedures and practices. This activity includes developing and maintaining manuals regarding the College's policies, procedures, rules, and standards.
  • Analyzes class and program needs of the College.
  • Determines and recommends the retention or deletion of courses.
  • Develops and coordinates program and course schedules, faculty assignments, and test dates.
  • Maintains calendar as necessary to track these schedules and adjusts as required.
  • Assist students and program curriculum, program and course reviews, and articulation activities.
Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, or Master’s degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics.
Knowledge of
  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications
  • Utilize Canvas Learning Management System and other instructional technologies
Ability to
  • Interact positively with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Work Environment and Physical Demand

Pay Rates

Standard hourly rates vary based on the assigned course level and educational credentials. Must have the ability to work a fluctuating schedule to include evenings and weekends.

Background Check/ Drug Screen may be required based on the specific requirements of the position for which the application is being submitted.

Employment is contingent upon passing a drug test and completing a criminal background investigation.

The College conducts its employment activity within the State of Florida except for occasional brief and temporary pre-approved periods related to college travel.
