Job summary

Palm Beach State College is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach History courses, develop and assess curricula, and participate in program evaluation. The role supports college mission with a flexible schedule and evening/weekend commitments.

The position requires a Master’s degree in History (or 18 graduate hours in History) and proficiency with Canvas and Microsoft Office. Staff will engage with diverse student populations and contribute to departmental activities.

About this role

Instruct college students in accordance with educational theories and techniques. Develop discipline related curricula, assess student learning, participate in program evaluation and college activities. Maintain college and department standards in support of the College's mission and strategic plan. Work schedule varies according to teaching assignment.

What an Adjunct Instructor’s Day looks like
  • Develop, maintain, interpret, and execute administrative procedures and practices.
  • Develop and maintain manuals regarding the College's policies, procedures, rules, and standards.
  • Analyze class and program needs of the College.
  • Determine and recommend the retention or deletion of courses.
  • Develop and coordinate program and course schedules, faculty assignments, and test dates.
  • Maintain calendar as necessary to track these schedules and adjust as required.
  • Assist students, program curriculum, program and course reviews, and articulation activities.
Education and Experience

Master's degree in History or Master's degree and 18 graduate semester hours in History.

Knowledge of

Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications; utilize Canvas Learning Management System and other instructional technologies.

Ability to

Interact positively with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Pay Rates

Standard hourly rates vary based on the assigned course level and educational credentials.

Hours and Schedule

Must have the ability to work a fluctuating schedule to include evenings and weekends.

  • An evaluation report from an accrediting organization must be attached prior to the application closing date of each position.
