University of North Texas seeks an Adjunct Instructor to teach GEOG 1710: Earth Science during Fall 2026. The course will be taught in person at the UNT Denton campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:10 AM to 12:30 PM.

  • Master’s degree in geography, earth science, geology, environmental science, or a closely related field.
  • Prior college-level teaching experience is required.
  • Preferred: experience teaching introductory earth science, physical geography, geology, environmental science, or a related course; ability to provide effective instruction and to communicate course material clearly; support undergraduate student learning; Canvas or similar LMS experience.

Department Summary

The Department of Geography and the Environment at the University of North Texas offers undergraduate and graduate programs in geography, geographic information science, and related environmental fields. The department’s teaching and research encompass physical geography, human geography, geographic information science, earth science, environmental science, and the relationships between people and their environments. Faculty members are committed to excellence in teaching, research, student mentorship, and the application of geographic knowledge to environmental and societal challenges.

Position Overview

The Department of Geography and the Environment seeks a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach GEOG 1710: Earth Science during the Fall 2026 semester. This introductory undergraduate course provides students with a foundation in earth systems and processes. The course will be taught in person at the UNT Denton campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:10 AM to 12:30 PM.

The instructor will be responsible for preparing and delivering course instruction, evaluating student work, maintaining required academic records, communicating with students, holding appropriate office hours, and complying with departmental and university policies and deadlines. Appointment to this position will depend on departmental teaching needs and available funding.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in geography, earth science, geology, environmental science, or a closely related field; or a master’s degree in another field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in a discipline relevant to the course. Prior college-level teaching experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching introductory earth science, physical geography, geology, environmental science, or a closely related course at the college or university level. Demonstrated ability to provide effective instruction, communicate course material clearly, and support undergraduate student learning. Experience using Canvas or a comparable learning-management system is also preferred.
