Job summary

Northcentral Technical College is seeking part-time adjunct Fire Instructors in the Colby, WI area to deliver performance-based instruction aligned with course objectives. Instructors may teach day, evening, and weekend classes, with a maximum of 12 student contact hours per week averaged over the semester.

• Use course materials, outlines, syllabi, and guidelines to teach.
• Utilize learning technology for teaching, assessments, online learning, and student records (e.g., Canvas, Teams).
• Maintain accurate attendance, student success, and scholastic records; submit reports on time.
• Maintain a safe classroom/laboratory environment and ensure equipment security.
• Communicate with students and provide timely feedback on course completion; engage with college/department teams.
• Participate in the College's assessment, professional development, and Faculty Quality initiatives.

Job Summary

The instructor is primarily responsible for creating a performance-based learning and teaching environment for students in accordance with the educational objectives of the College.

Adjunct Faculty Details

• Part-time adjuncts are hired on a per-course basis each semester; teaching one semester does not guarantee assignment for the following semester.
• The teaching hours for a part-time instructor vary and may include day, evening, and weekend classes.
• Adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of 12 student contact hours per week averaged over the semester.
• Current need for Adjunct Fire Instructors in the Colby, WI area.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver learning-centered instruction based on course competencies, performance levels, and a variety of learning styles to help students achieve course outcomes.
• Use course text, outlines, syllabi, and other curriculum materials in accordance with college and department guidelines.
• Utilize learning technology for teaching, delivery of course content, assessment, online/distance learning, and student record keeping (e.g., Canvas, Starfish, Cengage, Teams).
• Maintain accurate attendance, student success, and scholastic records of students; submit required reports and meet response deadlines.
• Meet with classes as assigned and maintain a classroom/laboratory/shop environment emphasizing safety, good housekeeping, and equipment security.
• Communicate, respond to questions, and provide consistent and timely feedback to students about successful course completion; actively participate in communications with the college, department, and team.
• Participate in the College's assessment process, professional development, and Faculty Quality initiatives.
