Job summary

Iowa Western Community College Inc is seeking an instructor to teach a multi-level ESL class within its secondary programs. The role includes facilitating orientation, implementing state programs and department policies, and collaborating with the Adult Education team.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Education, ability to pass a background check and hold a valid U.S. driver’s license. Flexibility to perform additional duties as assigned is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education is required.
• Ability to pass a background check and have a valid U.S. driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to lift 10 pounds and sit/stand for extended periods; operate computer keyboard and basic office equipment.
• Ability to work with diverse populations; strong reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

Responsibilities

• Instructs ESL classes focused on listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
• Facilitates student orientation.

Job description

Under limited supervision, the instructor is responsible for teaching a multi-level ESL class to students enrolled in IWCC's secondary programs.

• Instructs ESL classes; listening, speaking, reading, and writing
• Facilitates student orientation.
• Implements state mandated programs and departmental polices.
• Participates as an active member of the Adult Education team during meetings and provides timely feedback when requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to occasionally lift 10 pounds, ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone, and other basic office equipment, and ability to work with diverse populations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and use a phone. Reading, writing, calculating, social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, and ability to work with minimal supervision, high degree of problem-solving and high level of inter-personal skills is preferred.
