ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR - CRIMINAL JUSTICE
OLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGE

Olive-Harvey College is currently seeking a part-time Faculty toteach Criminal Justice. If you have passion for teaching andlearning, and are committed to the mission of the communitycollege, consider joining our team. The ideal candidate will havedemonstrated success in the classroom by developing and usingeffective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs andengage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving.

Must be able and willing to teach in-person

Must have a flexible schedule to teach morning/afternoon/eveningclasses

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design courses to meet learning outcomes, and promote students’active participation in their own learning.
  • Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve usingdiscipline-specific thinking strategies.
  • Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments toensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and theattainment of the student learning outcomes for the course.
  • Help students reach their academic, personal and career goalsand foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of peopleand ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveyingconfidence in every student’s ability to learn.
  • Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academicand professional communities, and promote collaboration andteamwork among members of these communities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Criminal Justice, or Criminology, orJ.D.
  • Knowledge of Brightspace Learning Management System,preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability tocommunicate with diverse group of staff and students required
  • Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population isdesired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of thecommunity college.
  • Must be available to teach during the day.
  • Must be able and willing to teach in-person.

The salary range is the following per contact hour based oneducation: Master's - $800, Master's +30 - $837, Doctorate/Terminal(including MFA) -$943. Offered salary will be determined by the therespective collective bargaining agreement and applicant'seducation, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
