Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Visit clinical education sites regularly for site observations.
• Observe students in departments at clinical sites.
• Correct technical performance when needed.
• Prepare course outlines for clinical sections.
• Counsel students on progress and performance.
• Review student competencies, absences, scores, and counseling notes.
• Maintain rapport with adjunct clinical staff for open communication.
• Assist clinical instructors with program or student issues.
• Ensure conduct aligns with JRC Standards.
• Keep a journal of clinical visits and actions.
• Evaluate clinical instructors’ effectiveness.
• Teach on-campus classes as needed.

Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The clinical coordinator will monitor clinical education sites of the Radiologic Technology Program. Periodic visits will be conducted so that observations will be made regarding each student’s technical progress and adherence to program policies, Weatherford College rules and regulations and the standards set by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology in the current “Standards for an Accredited Educational Program in Radiologic Technology”.

The clinical coordinator will become aware of any kind of misconduct on the part of the clinical site in reference to fairness, exploitation of students or student rights. The clinical coordinator will ensure that documentation will be kept of structure, of organization and of the inclusion of the students in all aspects of radiology that are available at each clinical site.

Required Education

Baccalaureate Degree or higher
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ( ARRT )

Texas State Department of Health (Certified MRT )
Transcripts, Certifications, & Current License must be sbmitted with application.

Required Experience

A minimum of two years as a practicing radiologic technologist. A minimum of one year as a clinical instructor in an accredited radiography program (may have been obtained concurrently with professional experience).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Visit each clinical education site on a regular basis (this would include a phone call or emails to each site each semester).

2. Observe students working in the departments, at the assigned clinical site

3. Correct technical performance when needed

4. Prepare course outline for all clinical sections

5. Counsel students

6. Review each student’s record regarding competencies, absences, test scores, counseling reports and monthly procedure records

7. Maintain rapport with the department’s adjunct faculty clinical instructor’s so that ideas and concerns may be freely disseminated by both parties

8. Assist clinical instructor with any program or student problems

9. Ensure that the conduct of students and clinical sites are in accordance with the JRC Standards

10. Keep a journal of clinical visits, observations and actions

11. Evaluate clinical instructors’ effectiveness

12. Teach classes on campus as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledgeable of the JRC Standards

Proficient in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation and counseling

Proficient in interpersonal verbal and nonverbal communication and diplomacy

Competent in all aspects of general diagnostic radiography
