Job Description Summary

Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors.

All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities

Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, which may be face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction. Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction. Faculty are expected to provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes, engage in instructional preparation, provide timely feedback to students, respond to student communications promptly, assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely fashion, maintain ethical and professional behavior, be available to students by appointment, attend adjunct faculty meetings, assess courses on departmental and institutional levels, complete required training, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Education

All faculty members must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion. These standards include an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application.

Qualifications: Associate degree and/or 2–5 years work experience in the field of study; Bachelor’s degree and/or 6–10 years work experience or credentialed; Master’s degree and/or 11–15 years work experience or credentialed; Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience or credentialed.

Required Experience

For upper‑level course instruction—minimum of two years full time critical care experience.

Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; achieve specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses; create a professional and effective learning environment; communicate effectively with students, college personnel, and administration; treat all persons with respect, dignity, and justice without discrimination; exercise highest professional and ethical standards; and observe the College’s policies and procedures.
