Job summary

Spartanburg Community College seeks a full-time chemistry lecturer to teach courses such as General, Organic, and lab-based chemistry in alignment with outlines and standards.

You will deliver engaging lectures and lab activities, utilize D2L Brightspace to share materials and manage grades, and ensure student safety and adherence to college policies throughout the term.

Qualifications

• Master’s in chemistry or related field with at least 18 graduate chemistry hours.
• Experience teaching at secondary or postsecondary level.
• Ability to use instructional technology such as D2L Brightspace.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned chemistry courses per outlines and standards.
• Deliver lectures, demonstrations, and lab activities for diverse students.

Job Responsibilities

Teach assigned chemistry courses (e.g., General Chemistry, Introductory Chemistry, College Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or Chemistry with Lab) in accordance with approved course outlines and institutional standards

Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, demonstrations, and laboratory activities appropriate for a diverse student population.
Utilize D2L (Brightspace) to post course materials, manage grades, communicate with students, and facilitate discussions
Develop, administer, and grade assessments, including exams, quizzes, laboratory reports, homework, and other assignments
Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance in compliance with college policies
Ensure laboratory instruction follows established safety protocols and proper chemical handling procedures
Adhere to institutional policies regarding instruction, assessment, academic integrity, and student conduct

Minimum And Additional Requirements

Master’s degree in chemistry or a closely related field OR Master’s degree in a related discipline with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Chemistry

Preferred Qualifications
