Lansing Community College’s West Campus seeks an Adjunct Instructor for Building Construction to teach courses in Interior and Exterior Construction, and related topics.

The candidate will communicate knowledge effectively, adapt instruction to diverse learners, maintain safety, and support program goals. Hours up to 30 per week; open until filled; requires degree and state license where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree plus two years of relevant residential/light commercial construction experience; OR an Associate's Degree with four years of relevant experience; OR a high school diploma/GED with eight years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach Building Technologies courses in Interior Construction, Exterior Construction and Structural Framing.
• Teach related classes such as construction materials and methods, BIM, sustainable construction, energy management, and building commissioning.
• Adjust instructional techniques to diverse student learning styles while maintaining a safe learning environment.
• Coordinate with the department to ensure alignment with program goals and safety standards.

Education

Bachelor's Degree + 2 years residential/light commercial construction experience

Associate's Degree + 4 years residential/light commercial construction experience

High School Diploma or GED + 8 years residential/light commercial construction experience

The Building Construction Technologies Adjunct must be able to effectively communicate and demonstrate knowledge of specific technical skills within both the lab and classroom environment to a diverse student population. The successful candidate will be responsible for the instruction of Building Technologies course(s) in Interior Construction and/or Exterior Construction and/or Structural Framing. The successful candidate may also be required to teach classes in construction materials and methods, construction technologies, mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems, building information modeling, sustainable construction, energy management, and/or building commissioning. The successful candidate will be able to adjust instructional techniques as required by individual student learning styles while maintaining a safe and positive learning environment for students and fellow faculty members. Proven commitment to construction safety and quality construction standards is necessary.

*Teaching assignments may include daytime and/or evening hours.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and two years relevant experience in residential/light commercial construction field; OR Associate's Degree in a related field and four years relevant experience in residential/light commercial construction field; OR High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of eight years relevant experience residential/light commercial construction field.

Michigan Residential Builders License.
