Job summary

Palm Beach State College is seeking adjunct instructors to join our team. The role involves delivering courses, developing and evaluating curricula, and maintaining classroom materials. You will collaborate with colleagues and support student success across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

What An Adjunct Instructor’s Day Looks Like
  • Develops, maintains, interprets, and executes administrative procedures and practices. This activity includes developing and maintaining manuals regarding the College's policies, procedures, rules, and standards.
  • Analyzes class and program needs of the College. Determines and recommends the retention or deletion of courses.
  • Develops and coordinates program and course schedules, faculty assignments, and test dates. Maintains calendar as necessary to track these schedules and adjusts as required.
  • Assist students and program curriculum, program and course reviews, and articulation activities.

Education And Experience
  • Master's degree in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, or related physical science sub-field or Master's degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, or related physical science sub-field.
Knowledge Of
  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications
  • Utilize Canvas Learning Management System and other instructional technologies
Ability To
  • Interact positively with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Work Environment And Physical Demand
  • Reach and grasp objects
  • Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Use of video display terminal
  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Communicate information orally and in writing
  • Receive and understand information through oral and written communication
  • Proofread and check documents for accuracy

Pay Rates

Standard hourly rates vary based on the assigned course level and educational credentials.

Must have the ability to work a fluctuating schedule to include evenings and weekends.

Degrees earned in the United States must be conferred by an accredited institution of higher education recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
