Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach American Sign Language (ASL) at CCM.

The role involves delivering engaging instruction that builds ASL proficiency and cultural understanding, following the department’s course outlines and descriptions. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the instructor may participate in departmental initiatives such as program assessment and grading processes.

Qualifications

  • Master’s in ASL or related field from a regionally accredited institution; ASL linguistics favored.
  • Previous college/university teaching experience preferred.
  • Native or near-native ASL fluency; knowledge of language teaching methods; Blackboard experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach ASL courses and follow the course description and outline established by the department.
  • Deliver engaging instruction across day/evening and online/hybrid formats.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives such as assessment and respond to requests regarding grades and submissions.

Job Summary

CCM seeks passionate and skilled adjunct instructors to teachAmerican Sign Language ( ASL ) courses. We are looking forindividuals committed to fostering a rich and immersive learningenvironment for students to develop their ASL proficiency andcultural understanding.

All adjunct faculty positions have as their primary objective tocreate a dynamic teaching/learning environment for our students,while contributing service to the college. Adjunct facultyresponsibilities include teaching assigned courses and followingthe course description and course outline established by thedepartment. Teaching schedules may include day/evening courses andonline/hybrid instruction. In accordance with the Adjunct Facultycollective bargaining agreement ( CBA ), additionalresponsibilities may include participation in departmentalinitiatives, such as assessment, and responding to requestsregarding grades, grade submissions, and other course-relatedcontent.

Qualifications - Education

A minimum of a Master’s degree in ASL or related field from aregionally accredited institution. Priority will be given toinstructors with a background in ASL linguistics.

Qualifications - Experience

Prior college or university teaching experience preferred.

Qualifications - Skills

Native or near-native fluency in ASL . Demonstrated knowledge oflanguage teaching and learning methodologies and techniques.Familiarity with Blackboard and other instructional technologiesdesired.
