Job summary

Hagerstown Community College in Maryland invites applications for adjunct instructors in American Sign Language (ASL). Preference for candidates who can teach in-person. Courses include ASL 101 and ASL 102; instructors should reside in MD, PA, VA, WV, or DC.

• Bachelor’s degree in any field with at least 15 graduate credits in ASL, Deaf Studies, Deaf Education, or ASL linguistics and significant teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach ASL 101 and ASL 102 courses.
• Adhere to the college schedule and maintain professional standards in instruction.

Job description

The Divisions of English and Humanities is currently accepting applications for adjunct instructors in American Sign Language (ASL). Preference will be given to instructors who can teach in-person. Courses are taught Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday between the hours of 8:30 and 3:45.

Courses include:

ASL 101 Basic Sign Language

ASL 102 Intermediate Sign Language

Instructors must reside in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or Washington, D.C.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s degree in ASL, Deaf Studies, Deaf Education, or ASL linguistics and significant teaching experience OR Bachelor’s degree in any field and at least 15 graduate credits in ASL, Deaf Studies, Deaf Education, or ASL linguistics AND significant teaching experience.
