ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR – ART – STUDIO COURSES
WILBUR WRIGHT COLLEGE
Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, seeks part-time faculty to teach beginning digital photography. Adjunct Faculty teach and evaluate students, prepare and revise coursesyllabi and other educational materials. Part-time Adjunct Faculty will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverseneeds and engage students in critical thinking and problem-solving. Part-time Adjunct Faculty contribute to the overall operation of the College, support the mission of the institute, and employ the philosophical commitment of the community college environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Creates an effective learning environment that fosters students’intellectual curiosity and helps students problem solve usingdiscipline-specific thinking strategies.
- Designs courses that have clearly articulated learning outcomesthat are student centered and promote students’ activeparticipation in their own learning.
- Prepares syllabi that include student learning objectives andstudent learning outcomes.
- Develops and designs an assessment program that includes regularand useful feedback to students in an objective, consistent, andtimely manner; evaluates and documents student performance usingestablished methods and criteria and records course gradespromptly.
- Commits to engaging and improving upon behavioral commitmentsthat foster inclusivity and a sense of belonging amongststudents.
- Stays abreast of innovations and current trends in one’s specificacademic discipline as they pertain to pedagogy and technology andcontinuously reflect on and refine their craft.
- Demonstrates excellence in teaching and a commitment tointegrating new technologies in the learning process.
- Fosters a safe environment that respects the diversity ofindividuals and ideas by modeling respect for all students andconveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
- Employs a variety of teaching methods to meet students’ varyinglearning needs, abilities, and interests and to optimize studentoutcomes.
- Teaches in a manner consistent with the philosophy, policies, andguidelines of the college.
QUALIFICATIONS
- M.F.A in appropriate studio arts discipline as determined byfaculty with Studio Art MFA in related field
- Teaching experience at the college level preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written skills required with the ability tocommunicate persuasively with tact and diplomacy.
- The ability to work in a culturally diverse workenvironment.
- Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student populationdesired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of thecommunity.
- Has a disposition towards developing the competencies outlined inthe City Colleges Academic Excellence Pillars.
- Knowledge of Brightspace or similar Learning Management Systempreferred.
- Prior experience with online teaching (via Zoom) and/or onlineteaching certification preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Available Monday and Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. for a12-week session beginning September 21st through December12th.
- Proficiency with industry standard photo-editing software,including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Bridge, and Adobe Camera RawConverter
- Proficiency with all steps of digital photography workflows fromcapture with manual settings on digital cameras to printing usinghigh quality inkjet printers
- Seeking candidate(s) to teach face-to-face course(s)
SALARY AND BENEFITS
- Salary: $800 - $837 - $943 per Contact Hour based on Degree
- The rate paid is in accordance with City Colleges approved salaryscale.
