Adjunct Instructor - Advanced Manufacturing Pathway
Position Summary
The Adjunct Instructor will teach advanced manufacturing courses—including machining, quality, safety, production, and maintenance—to senior high school and adult learners. The instructor will mentor students, preparing them for the Certified Production Technician (CPT) exam and industry employment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver high‑quality coursework in advanced manufacturing topics.
- Provide hands‑on training in state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing labs, helping students develop practical machining, fabrication, and assembly skills.
- Ensure students understand industry standards, safety protocols, and the latest technologies used in manufacturing.
- Teach courses that prepare students for the CPT certification exam, covering core topics such as safety, quality practices, manufacturing processes, maintenance awareness, and production systems.
- Provide instructional support and mentoring throughout the CPT training program.
- Administer assessments, quizzes, and practical exercises to gauge mastery of CPT concepts.
- Maintain mastery of subject matter and reflect industry needs in curriculum development.
- Develop curriculum, teaching materials, activities, assignments, projects, and course assessments; use technology during instruction.
- Advise students through registration, scholarship application, and testing processes; maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Prepare and schedule students to take and pass the MSSC Certified Production Technician exam.
- Supervise students in classrooms, labs, field trips, and hands‑on experiences; ensure adherence to the Code of Classroom Conduct and Code of Student Conduct.
- Prepare lesson plans and deliver instructions; evaluate student progress fairly, consistently, and timely.
- Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs; encourage critical thinking, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Maintain equipment to meet safety standards and readiness for instruction.
- Guide students through career pathways in manufacturing, providing advice on industry trends, resume building, interview preparation, and career planning.
- Support students in obtaining CPT certification, building confidence and skills for the workforce.
- Regularly assess student performance using written tests, practical projects, and assignments.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit grades promptly.
- Prepare and maintain course documentation—attendance, grading, rosters, section changes, class schedules—in accordance with college policy; ensure accuracy and timely submission.
- Maintain the highest safety standards, organization, and cleanliness of labs and shop areas.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and expectations of the college, department, and discipline.
- Communicate clearly with students and employees.
- Contribute to a safe and secure campus environment.
- Support workforce diversity in all aspects.
- Contribute to the college vision, mission, values, and RISE statement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of full‑time or equivalent teaching experience in a high school, postsecondary, or technical training environment, or equivalent corporate, industrial, or workforce development experience.
- Experience with instructional technology, instructional design, and curriculum development.
- Certification or equivalent experience as a Certified Production Technician (CPT).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to engage and mentor students.
- Official transcripts from a regionally accredited institution must be submitted before hiring.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree.
- Three years of full‑time or equivalent teaching experience in a postsecondary, technical training, corporate, industrial, or workforce development environment.
- Experience designing and developing training or educational curriculum.
- Hold one or more of the following certifications: OSHA, First Aid and CPR, Certified Production Technician, Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
- Electrical Journeyman card or license, Hazwoper 40‑hour certification, Siemens Automation Educator, welding.
- Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, or American Sign Language.

Salary Range: $25.00 - $30.00 per contact hour.
