UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media seeks a part-time Adjunct Instructor to teach selected courses for the 2026-27 academic year. The position requires a earned doctorate or terminal degree in a related discipline, and candidates should have strong communication and writing skills, plus prior higher education teaching experience.
Adjunct instructors will follow a standardized syllabus, engage students in discussions, provide timely feedback, and post grades per university guidelines.

Adjunct instructors teach a variety of instruction modes. The default mode for undergraduate courses is in-person. For courses designated as in-person, class sessions are expected to be taught in-person on campus. For other course modes, such as hybrid or fully online, mode expectations will be discussed prior to the beginning of each semester. Earned doctorate or terminal degree in the same or closely related discipline as the course taught. In lieu of an earned terminal degree in an appropriate field as described above, instructors may be qualified by professional experience or by a combination of education and experience.
