Job description

ADJUNCT NEEDED to teach Design Processes One at the University of Dayton, Department of Visual and Performing Arts in the Spring of 2027. This is a 3 credit hour studio class and will be scheduled in the evening (unless needed otherwise).

This is an IN-PERSON studio course. Seeking local to the region applicants.

Course Description:

Introduction to the iterative design processes, including tools, technologies, and fundamentals of print and digitally based graphic design. Students gain skills in a range of software, such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to generate effective visual communication. Additional programs and technologies current in the field are explored. Emphasis on production design techniques, equipment, assembly strategies, craft, and problem-solving strategies.

The goal of this course is to expose students to the fundamentals of computer graphic design as a vital aspect of the graphic design process. By the semester’s end, students should have gained an intermediate proficiency in the use of Adobe Illustrator, learn advanced techniques in Adobe Photoshop, as well as an introductory level of skills in Adobe InDesign. The class will examine various materials and assembly methods. Students should gain their visual sensibility to graphic design, observation skills and refine their craftsmanship.
