Azusa Pacific University invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach film and television editing at the undergraduate level, with emphasis on dramatic scene construction. The primary responsibility is to deliver instruction as determined by the department.

Qualifications include a Master’s or Bachelor’s in film/TV/editing or equivalent, 5+ years of editing, and advanced Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in film, television, editing, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
• At least five years of professional editing experience, including scripted film/TV.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve; both preferred.
• Ability to teach editorial judgment and post-production practices.
• College/university teaching experience preferred.
• Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrated, vibrant Christian faith compatible with the university’s mission.
• Total workload not to exceed 29 hours per week; up to 9 units per semester.

Responsabilités

• Deliver instruction in the manner determined by the department.
• Prepare and teach curriculum in partnership with the program director, emphasizing dramatic scene and sequence editing through demonstrations, hands-on assignments, and critiques.
• Guide students in selecting takes and shaping performances to communicate character intention, subtext, conflict, and dramatic progression.
• Teach shot selection, continuity, pacing, rhythm, and the integration of dialogue, sound, and music to support storytelling.
• Develop assignments using footage with multiple takes and camera coverage, progressing from individual scenes to connected sequences.
• Teach professional editing workflows using Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve, including media organization, collaborative revision, and delivery to industry specifications.
• Provide constructive feedback, evaluate student work, and assign final course grades.
• Maintain assigned advising and office hours, and participate in faculty meetings and departmental activities as specified in the adjunct faculty assignment.
