Job summary

Cuyahoga Community College seeks an adjunct faculty member for the Utility Technology program. The role covers a broad range of courses including equipment operations, construction safety, and fiber splicing.

Responsibilities include preparing syllabi and materials, evaluating student work, maintaining records, and coaching students as needed. Candidates must have a relevant degree or extensive experience and be able to work day/evening/weekend sessions as scheduled.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or significant related experience may substitute for education.
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time utilities technology experience including construction print reading and interpretation, safety procedures and regulations, operating specific pieces of equipment and knowledge of industry standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent).
  • Advanced communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills.
  • Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population.

Courses include equipment operations, aerial construction, underground construction, construction safety, utility locating, traffic flagging, advanced construction safety, construction print reading, telecommunication systems, and fiber splicing.
  • Prepares and delivers learning activities to achieve course outcomes.
  • Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts.
  • Evaluates and grades students’ class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinations.
  • Maintains and submits student attendance records, grades and other required documentation by deadlines.
  • Be available to students for coaching.
  • Periodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College regarding teaching duties and development.

Special Note: This is a part-time (adjunct) faculty position. Candidates will be interviewed and hired on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year.

Job Description

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA Instructor Authorization

Special Note: This is a Part-Time Faculty position, with the following set rate of pay: $942.00/Equated Semester Unit (ESU)
