Qualifications

  • Earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in sociology or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Create a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals.
  • Provide effective instruction and assessment within common syllabi.
  • Deliver assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Use available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage students meaningfully and implement active classroom teaching strategies.
  • Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester.
  • Use technology for academic advising alerts and provide interventions, tutoring, academic supports, and referrals.
  • Interact professionally and cooperatively with students and co-workers.
  • Implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and learning environments.
  • Conduct responsibilities in accordance with FERPA, regulatory requirements, and professional standards

Job description

Responsibilities

Requirements
  • Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction
  • Must meet faculty credentials as outlined in ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction
  • Earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in sociology, social work, or social psychology; or
  • Earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with 18 hours in sociology and/or 18 graduate semester hours in sociology-related courses, including a course in statistics and/or research methodology
  • Appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views
