Job description

Application Eligibility

Only apply if you have been specifically instructed by the University of Richmond’s Human Resource Department or the School of Professional & Continuing Studies. This posting is for adjunct faculty already identified; if you have been specifically instructed, you may apply.

Qualifications

• All part‑time faculty must meet SACSCOC (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools – Commission on Colleges) requirements.
• For undergraduate programs: a master’s degree in the teaching field or a master’s degree in another field with at least 18 hours of master’s‑level work in the field you will teach.
• For graduate level courses: a doctorate in the appropriate teaching field.
• Required official transcripts and all forms from SPCS and the University Human Resources Office must be submitted prior to a contract being issued.

Responsibilities

• Teach classes as scheduled.
• Strive to improve teaching effectiveness.
• Take a sympathetic interest in the progress and development of each student.
• Keep accurate records of the academic standing of each student.
• Hand in reports of grades and other required information promptly to the dean, the registrar, the provost, or the president.
• Attend the two adjunct faculty meetings, SPCS Night (held in May of each year), and SPCS Commencement Ceremony.
