Job summary

Piedmont Virginia Community College ( PVCC ) seeks adjunct faculty in microbiology to teach developmental and college‑level courses, including distance‑learning options. Appointments are course‑by‑course, semester‑based, with daytime and evening offerings, weekdays and weekends, primarily face‑to‑face with the possibility of remote instruction.

The position requires a Master’s in Microbiology or related field with 18 graduate hours in Microbiology; two years of teaching experience; and

Piedmont Virginia Community College ( PVCC ) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia – principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System ( VCCS ).

Special Assignments

KSA's/Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess expert skills, knowledge, experience and education in the subject area and a history of successful teaching or related experience.

Minimum Education Required- Masters in Microbiology, or a related field with 18 graduate hours in Microbiology to teach credit-level coursework.

Additional Considerations

Two years teaching experience, work experience in the field, and experience with on-line teaching.
