Job Description

The Fine Arts department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions in sculpture/3D. Candidates should possess extensive knowledge of art history, contemporary practices, approaches, and movements. Specialization in cross-cultural curriculum development is encouraged. Candidates should foster an inclusive classroom environment respecting diverse backgrounds and identities.

Courses requiring specific skills include:

• FA114: Knowledge of basic tools and fundamental 3D concepts.
• FA161: Ability to teach anatomy and sculpture of the figure in clay.
• FA261: Knowledge of woodshop and welding tools, safety, and their relationship to contemporary art.
• FA361: Use of various materials and contemporary sculpture approaches.
• FA363: Expertise in mold making and casting.

Adjunct instructors deliver course material, assess student performance, guide students, and submit grades timely. Course descriptions are available online.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
• Relevant 6 years of industry experience or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of college teaching experience.
• Master of Fine Arts degree or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Expertise in sculptural processes and tools.
• Ability to teach concepts, ensure safety, and communicate historical and contemporary contexts.
• Proficiency in syllabus writing, course delivery, student assessment, and grading.
• Effective communication with shop technicians.
