Job Description:The Fashion Business Management department is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions. Adjunct instructors are expected to teach the required 15 week class schedule, pursue involvement in professional organizations and maintain industry relationships. Candidates must have excellent communication skills; a commitment to quality education and student-centeredness; be part of a collaborative team; be informed of the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion which aligns with the FIT mission and standard practices. The ideal candidate will be a creative and business driven professional with fashion and technological experience in merchandising, buying, planning, product development, retail management, retail math and strategic planning. Candidate must demonstrate leadership skills.
Adjunct instructors deliver relevant course material, assess student performance, provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom, and submit grades on time. Course descriptions are available in the online catalog.
Requirements:Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in the field or a closely related field.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in the field.
Preferred Qualifications:- MBA or Master's degree in the field or a closely related field.
- Teaching experience at the college level.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:- A demonstrated knowledge of current and forward fashion business practices including buying, planning, digital marketing, multi-channeling retailing, product development, and analytics in various fashion and related categories.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills which include a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of industry specific technology skills relating to software programs including but not limited to Adobe CC, PLM, Data and Predictive Analytics.
- The ability to create team projects to develop students' interpersonal skills related to the resolution of challenges presented in the fashion business.
Additional Information:This is a part-time position beginning in Spring 2025. Review of applications will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled. The department will keep this posting open to create a pool of candidates for potential future adjunct assignments. Compensation:The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) governs the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. $84.60 per hour based on minimum qualifications. The final rate, step and appointment rank are determined by a candidate's ability to demonstrate that they meet the respective school's additional criteria for hiring "above the first step," in accordance with the CBA Adjunct Salary Schedules.
