Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) invites applications for adjunct faculty in Communication Studies. Instructors may teach development and college-level courses, including online sections, with primary face-to-face delivery and potential remote instruction.

Appointments are made semester by semester as needed. Qualified candidates hold a Master’s in Communication Studies (or equivalent with 18 graduate hours) and have demonstrated teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s in Communication Studies or higher with related coursework and experience.
• Two years of teaching experience or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with online/distance learning is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach developmental and/or college-level Communication Studies courses.
• Deliver in-person instruction with potential for remote teaching.

Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis, as needed. Responsibilities include teaching developmental and/or college-level courses, which may include distance-learning courses during the day and evening, on weekdays and weekends.

Primarily face-to-face with the possibility of remote instruction.

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia – principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).

We are seeking to identify qualified and interested adjunct faculty members in the following teaching disciplines and/or subject areas: COMMUNICATION STUDIES.

We are currently seeking instructors for in person instruction of Principles of Public Speaking in The Higher Education in Prison Program. Through this program, PVCC offers opportunities for incarcerated learners to transform their lives by earning a transfer associate degree. This program is available to incarcerated students at Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women, Buckingham Correctional Center, and Dillwyn Correctional Center.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess expert skills, knowledge, experience and education in the subject area and a history of successful teaching or related experience.

Additional Considerations

Master’s degree in Communication Studies or master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Communication Studies. Two years teaching experience, work experience in the field, and experience with on-line teaching. Ph.D. in Communication Studies.

Operation of a State Vehicle

No Supervises Employees. No Required Travel. To and from any college campus/site location as assigned.
